Earring Challenge Reveal 6 (weeks 11-12/52)

Well, it's that time yet again. Sorry I've not been on here much lately. Been struggling with shoulder and neck problems and therefore trying not to spend too much time on the computer.

I couldn't resist making last weeks earrings with another pair of Faith Bowman's Triangle Dangles and brass earwires. I made this pair of lampwork beads with Effetre transparent baby blue and Double Helix Gaia. then I took a pair of Czech flower beads from Rebecca Anderson Curious Bead Shop.

They are available for sale in my new Etsy Jewellery Shop https://www.etsy.com/listing/126935915/pale-green-handmade-lampwork-earrings?ref=shop_home_active

This weeks pair were something I've had laying around for a while and finally finished. A great way to use the little spacer beads I sell. These were made using Reichenbach Coral Pink glass which is 96coe and came from Caroline Beadbug.

They are also available for sale https://www.etsy.com/listing/128021526/silver-and-raspberry-handmade-lampwork?ref=v1_other_1

Claire Lockwood made her earrings with a pair of my headpins. You can see them on the AJE Revel here: http://artjewelryelements.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/earring-challenge-reveal-6-weeks-11.html

Thanks for looking and please have a look at the other reveals.

Earring Challenge Reveal 5 (weeks 9-10/52)

I'm sorry I've not been posting much lately. It's not that I haven't been doing anything - the opposite. I have been busy making beads and jewellery with my Blog Party Bead Soup but I can't show you because the reveal date is April 13th - so you will just have to be patient.

It's that reveal time again for the AJE Earring Challenge, comes round so quickly.

Week nines pair of earrings were made using components from one of my favourite suppliers Faith Bowman of Abyjem. Faith makes the most gorgeous jewellery and components. I used some of her triangle dangles and brass earwires together with my lampwork spacer beads in Effetre Dark Lavender glass and  a couple of matching crystals. Effetre Dark Lavender is becoming an increasingly rare glass to get hold of due it it's high precious metal content. Fortunately I have quite a large stash.

Next up is this pair of Earrings made with Reichenbach Silver Brown glass. This is a glass I have yet to find all of it secrets. Sometimes I get amber with shades of green and sometimes a hint of purple - more practice needed. I love the shape my ornate bead roller from Pegasus Lampwork Tools gives me.

I recently joined a subscription bead club called The Curiosity Club setup by The Curious Bead Shop on Etsy. These cute little leaves were in my first pack and I couldn't resist matching them with these beads. The brass findings were from Smitten Beads.

These earrings are up for sale in my new jewellery store EarthshineJewellery on Etsy. More about that another time. Here is the link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/126238299/a-pair-of-handmade-lampwork-glass if you are interested in buying the lavender pair please email me.

Hope you like them and thanks for looking.

Studio Update

Back in January of last year I showed you a picture of my lampwork studio http://www.earth-shine.co.uk/2012/01/to-flame-or-not-to-flame.html

Since then it has grown a bit. More glass and 2 oxycons meant I had to have a change around. That table really wasn't going to take the weight.

Here are the photos of how it looks now.

The little packs on the right hand side are my latest idea for frit storage. I wanted to get some of those magnetic glass jars from Ikea last time I was there but they only had a display set. I decided they were a little big and would cost a lot considering how much frit I have.

I came across an idea of storing tools along the side of the bench using magnetic strips and found some on Ebay, not very expensive £2.99 I think. Unfortunately they weren't man enough for the job. Then I thought of doing this on an old back of a washing machine.

I'm not sure if it will work for long. I imagine that the sticky on the magnets will fail over time - especially in the heat of the conservatory. But it's nice to be able to see what I have and to hand rather than rooting around in a bag in the drawer.

This is how I store my most used stringers. I have to say the ones in the first row are easy to get at, the rest aren't and I usually end up breaking some.

I was fortunate enough to come across this little set of shelves in the Rotary Club annual sale. Only £4 what a bargain and brilliant for storing my presses, murrini and mica powder.

Something else I got at the sale was this calor gas fire. £5 including the (empty) gas bottle. I can now heat the conservatory until it is really toasty without my other half moaning about the electric bill!

and finally my kiln and glass stash. It's grown a but but still not as much as my friend Sue's got.

Thanks for looking.
